歌词翻译的基本方法

利用音乐，学习英语，学习翻译，是的、最生动的、最有趣的一种形式。歌词翻译给英语学习爱好者，给翻译学习爱好者，开辟了一个全新的天地，足以让我们陶醉于美妙的音乐中，自己的英语的各种基本功底也随着飘渺的音乐“冉冉”而上，从而突飞猛进。

那么怎么利用歌词学好翻译呢？

一、理解是翻译的前提

The Rose这首英语歌词分三节，每一节八行，前六行明显在铺陈，后两行明显在推出歌曲的高潮，深刻表达自己对“爱”的观点。以下简单的分析在这首歌词翻译中的理解难点问题。

第一节前八行，it is a river that drowns the tender reed这个句子中，有一个定语从句，说的基本意思是“河流淹没了水草”。好多同学没有理解这个句子，有人竟然翻译为“有人说爱是淹没在温柔芦苇中的小河”，出现了明显的理解错误。第二句话it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed的基本意思是“是剃刀留下了灵魂在滴血”，这个句子中，理解的要点是leave这个单词，是“使”的意思，字面意思可以翻译为“留下”。上面译文中，用“丢下”略显突兀。最后，you its only seed是一个省略句，省略了系动词are。省略是诗歌中经常采用的方式，目的是要使各个句子节奏整齐。同时only是“”的意思，这个句子的意思是说“你就是那的种子”。所以，陕西一位梁兰琼同学提供的整个译文很精彩，但是她就把这个句子翻译为“而你，只是花的种籽”，用了一个“只是”，明显改变了句子的意思，所以不太妥帖。

第二节中间八行，沿用的仍然是大量定语从句，比较好理解。但是，在It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give这个句子中，由于有双重否定，导致了很多同学在翻译的时候出现了理解错误。其实，英语的双重否定和汉语的双重否定一样。可以这样来理解“不被带走的人，似乎不愿意给与”，或者理解为完全肯定“只有带走了，才愿意给出”。同时，这个句子中，be taken和give这两个词比较抽象，不太好理解。其实，我们可以看出，所谓“被带走”就是“爱被别人带走”；“给与”就是我们“给与别人爱”。所以，温州市谢聪同学翻译为“是它，不曾离去，不曾给予”是一个比较不错的译文。当然，需要说明的是，珠海市邝嘉慧同学翻译为“一个不被爱的人，永远不会付出爱情。”；以及河南省襄城县张静同学翻译为“留守在原地的人儿对爱犹疑”；也都非常精彩。

二、音、英、汉融会贯通

歌词翻译需要考虑到“旋律和节奏”。所以，在翻译的时候，需要照顾到英语、汉语、歌词和旋律等各方面的因素，在选择合适的汉语词来翻译英语的时候则显得比较重要。而在笔者查看的所有译文中，没有一个同学考虑到要照顾“音乐，韵律、节奏”等问题。说简单一点，歌词要适合“唱”，有节奏和韵律才能“唱得响亮”。

就拿The Rose这歌词的第一节前八行来说吧。每两行基本构成一个英语句子，有明显的英语韵脚“river, razor, hunger, flower是一组押韵；reed, bleed, need, seed是一组押韵”。仔细听听音乐的旋律，我们还发现，英语原文每一行都是6个或者7个音节，照顾到双行所配合的旋律稍长，所以，基本采用汉字的“六言和七言”错杂安排。我们可以把第一节的歌词调整后，翻译为：

淹没了，孱弱水草，

有人说，爱似刀，

留下了，血溅魂飘，

有人说，爱太渴，

痛苦中，紧紧索要，

综上所述，歌词翻译的基本方法是：多听歌曲，读懂了英语歌词，简单匹配英语为汉语；仔细调整汉语译文，直到比较满意之后，再跟着英语歌曲的旋律哼唱一下自己的汉语译文；再稍微冷却一下自己的译文，隔段时间再把英语和汉语，加上旋律拿出来琢磨，直到完全满意为止。

“译可译，非常译”，没有所谓“标准的译本”，只有不断的探索和斟酌。翻译的乐趣，就在于，猛然间，得到灵感，找到一个合适的词来精确的表达原文。只有在推敲间，我们的英语水平和翻译能力，方能在“歌词翻译”这种鲜活的学习方式下逐渐提高。
