不断提高，这些都是我们所建议的变消极为积极、变否定为肯定。

V 另外，我们还提到，许多Chinglish 的发生是因为英语单词的搭配错误，我们举的两个

例子分别是：join 与party 的搭配以及body 与healthy 的搭配。

A 是的，具体而言，join the party 只能表达“参加党派”的意思，而如果要表达“参加聚

会”就不能用这样的搭配。

经常就会出现问题了。

A 要更好地理解这一点，我们先来看一看刚才提到的一些词在英语中的表达，首先是“价

格”，它的英语单词是price。

V 接下来出现的“票价”的英语单词是fare、“成本”的英语单词是cost，在使用这些词

时都不能使用前面提到的表示昂贵的expensive。

A 那如果在句中出现这些单词的时候应该使用哪个形容词来进行搭配呢？

V 使用的单词非常简单，就是high一词，为了加深印象，我们就上面的几个单词和high的

搭配举几个例子看一看，第一个例子是：The price of the concert tickets is very high

compared with two years ago

A 与两年前相比，演唱会的票价非常高，注意这里不能说The price of the concert tickets is

very expensive…，因为price不能和expensive搭配使用。

V 第二个例子是：The air fare to Paris is higher than it is to London

A 到巴黎的机票比到伦敦的高。这里也不能说The air fare to Paris is more expensive than it

is to London，因为fare不能和expensive搭配使用。

V 第三个例子是与单词cost有关，例子是：The cost of raising a child is very high in China

A 在中国养孩子的成本/费用很高，这里也不能说The cost of raising a child is very expensive

in China，因为cost不能和expensive搭配使用。

V 接下来要一起学习的Chinglish例子是与“买”这一意思有关的。

A “买”在英语中的表达应该是比较简单的，想必朋友们都知道，使用的单词是buy，难

道这还有什么容易出错的地方吗？

V 有的，我们通过一个例子来学习，例句就是：This digital camera is too expensive I can’t

buy it

A 如果要翻译，前半句的意思就是这台数码相机太贵了，从这句话的意思就能判断出来，

后半句应该表达“买不起”的意思。

V 我们来看看例句是如何表达的：I can’t buy it，这是不对的，I can’t buy it所表达的意思

并非“能不能买得起”，而是因为别的什么原因不能买，例如：

I can’t buy it because I don’t have enough cash on me

A 我没法买，因为我身上没带足够的钱，也就是说：此人可能能买得起，但因为身上钱不

够暂时不能买，也可能明天会回来买。

V 再如：I can’t buy it now because I want to discuss it with my wife

A 我现在不能买，因为我想和太太商量一下。同样，此人可能买得起，但要征求太太的意

见。

V 因此，虽然I can’t buy it是正确的英语句子，但用于“买得起、买不起”时就不能这么

表达了。

A 那这时候该如何表达呢？能不能说I don’t have enough money to buy it？不过这样听起

来是不是太啰唆了？而且和前面的身上带的钱不够有所混淆。

V I don’t have enough money to buy it这样表达是没有错的，不过更为简洁、更为地道的表

达就是一个英语单词afford。

A Afford 一个单词就能表达这样的意思，确实很简洁，那么上句就可以说I don’t afford to

buy it，对不对？

V 不对，使用afford 表示“买得起”这一意思时常接在助动词can 及can’t 之后，买得起

就是can afford，而买不起就是can’t afford

A 这一语言点也是要注意的，所以上句话就应当说I can’t afford to buy it，这样对了吧？

V 是的，不过还可以更加简洁、更加地道地表示，直接说：I can’t afford it，而不用再加
