special，especial，particular和specific的区别

　　special “特殊的”、“特别的”、“专门的”，普通用词，指在某方面具有不同于一般的特别之处（not ordinary or usual）突出与一般不同。也可表示有“特有的”，“独具特色的”或“特设的”，“专门的”。

　　1）Is there anything special that you'd like to do today

　　2）Passengers should tell the airline in advance if they have any special dietary needs

　　乘客如有特殊的饮食需求应该提前告诉航空公司。

　　3）I don't expect special treatment － I just want to be treated fairly

　　especial “尤其的”、“特别的”，强调修饰的人或物在所提及得到人或物中有显眼或例外的地方，侧重有特殊的意义或重要性。

　　particular “特殊的”，“具体的”，指某事物有个性和独特之处，侧重不同于普遍的个性或特殊性。

　　specific “特殊的”、“特异的”，强调奇特性和特异性，指某物与其他事物有明显的区别或针对某物而言是特定的，特有的。

special和especial的比较

两者有相似又有区别，很多情况下可以通用。special是指“特别的，专门的”，而especial指“特别的，非同寻常的”，不过人们在习惯上更偏向于使用special。 

specially表示“特别地，专门地”，而especially表示“特别的”，意思相近。前者常表示“一个特定的目的”，而后者表示的是“尤其的”。

“special”是特使、特派人员；特刊；特色菜；专车；特价商品；adj 特别的、专门的、专用的意思。

special 英 ['speʃ(ə)l]  美 [ˈspɛʃəl] ：

adj特殊的、特别的；专门的、专用的、特设的；特制的；有特殊作用(或用途)的；异常的、独特的；非常的、格外的；明确的；具体的；受到高度重视的、首要的；名符其实的、特别亲密的；增加的、额外的。

adv特别地，尤其。

special是特殊的意思。

specific是特定的，具体的，明确的。

当你要表达一个东西很特殊时，用special，比如说it is a special gift 礼物很特别啊。

说具体的、特定的一个东西时，用specific，比如：

There was a specific tool for each job 每项工作都有特定的工具。

Let us have your specific inquiries 告诉我们您的具体要求。

这两句用special就不符合了，第一句并不是说工具很特别，不是在强调这个工具不同凡响，只是说都有某一件既定的工具，强调是根据工作不同而不同。（尽管special也有“专门的”意思，但是用specific更好，因为不会造成误解）第二句就更不能用special了，因为并不是什么特殊的问题/要求，而是明确的、具体的问题。

但是也有差异比较小的例子。

in special circumstances（在特殊情况下）惯用短语，我们一般都这么说。

但其实仔细分析，这里的“特殊”其实跟“特定”的意思很相近，都是指“某些”，“存在一些特别的情况”。用中文直接分析也可以，你把这里的特殊换成特定，没有什么大问题。

所以，在special表达“特别的，特殊的，独一无二的”这样强调它不同凡响，不一样的意思的时候，或者在specific表达“明确的，具体的”（与exact大致相同）的意思时，这两个词很好区别。但是如果两个词都是表达某种特定的、专门的意思时，一般来说两个词用起来都没问题的。
