《傲慢与偏见》是英国女小说家简·奥斯汀的创作的长篇小说。

《傲慢与偏见》是奥斯汀最早完成的作品，她在1796年开始动笔，取名叫《最初的印象》，1797年8月完成。她父亲看后很感动，特意拿给汤玛士·卡德尔，请他出版，但对方一口回绝，这使得他们父女非常失望。于是简·奥斯汀着手修订另一本小说《理性与感性》。

1805年她父亲去世后，奥斯汀太太带着简和她姐姐卡珊德拉搬到南安普顿。直到1809年定居在乔顿城其兄爱德华的汉普夏庄园之后，简·奥斯汀才再度认真提笔。《理智与情感》修订后她自费出书，销路不错。于是她重写《最初的印象》，改名叫《傲慢与偏见》。

奥斯汀在这部小说中通过班纳特五个女儿对待终身大事的不同处理，表现出乡镇中产阶级家庭出身的少女对婚姻爱情问题的不同态度，从而反映了作者本人的婚姻观：为了财产、金钱和地位而结婚是错误的；而结婚不考虑上述因素也是愚蠢的。因此，她既反对为金钱而结婚，也反对把婚姻当儿戏。她强调理想婚姻的重要性，并把男女双方感情作为缔结理想婚姻的基石。
