孙悟空用英文说法是：The Monkey King。

姓孙：祖师从猴王身上取个姓氏‘猢’。猢字去了个兽旁，乃是个古月。古者老也，月者阴也。老阴不能化育，教他姓‘狲’。狲字去了兽旁，乃是个子系。子者儿男也，系者婴细也，正合婴儿之本论，姓‘孙’。

名悟空：祖师门中有十二个字，分派起名，到猴王乃第十辈之小徒矣。那十二个字乃‘广大智慧真如性海颖悟圆觉’十二字。排到猴王，正当‘悟’字。祖师便为猴王起就个法名，叫做‘孙悟空’。

孙悟空，又呼“行者”，出身东胜神洲傲来国花果山水帘洞，金水为真空之性，悟得此空，还须行得此空，而金水攒矣。

孙悟空出生于娑婆世界东胜神洲傲来国花果山，自开辟以来的仙石孕育而生。但仙石并非毫无来历，处于十洲三岛的祖脉上，其高围按二十四气，其上窍孔对应九宫八卦（九窍八孔）。

一天仙石迸裂，产一石卵， 经风一吹，化作一石猴，石猴出世后，眼里冒出两道神光，射冲斗府，惊动的天上的玉皇大帝。之后因为成功闯入水帘洞，被花果山诸猴拜为“美猴王”。

写作思路：可以写《西游记》里面的美猴王，将美猴王在花果山发生的故事描述一下，比如众猴都称石猴“千岁大王”。石猴高登王位，将“石”字儿隐了，遂称美猴王。

刚好是英语专业的。来献丑一下。这道题是个中译英的题。以前上课的时候老师说过中译英比英译中难，因为英语词语简练，不像中文一个词有很多意思，一个意思可以有很多对应的词。英译中可以根据句子意思或者说话语气选词。中译英却很难选到合适的对应的词，大多数时候只能意译。

齐天大圣是孙悟空给自己起的称号，意思是要与天齐平，与玉皇大帝同起同坐。这个词包含了孙悟空的豪气和张扬，又包含可天地之间的浩气。四个字有很丰富的意境。我以前翻译的是The Monkey King--猴子王，哈哈。当时才疏学浅，实在是把孙悟空的冲天气焰翻译不出来，反倒有点土匪大王的这个意思。

后来看到有直译的，就是直接用拼音翻译的，即QiTianDaSheng。这个版本也不能说好，也不能说不好。最起码给中国人看的话，只要看过西游记，知道孙悟空的故事的就都知道这个是齐天大圣，但是要是给外国人看就不一定了。他们不知西游记的可能齐天大圣四个字都不会写。反应应该会跟那个猴子王一样，这是个人吗？

最近看到一个最好的最符合原著的答案，the Great Sage Equalling Heaven，觉得这个真的是一下把孙悟空威风凛凛的样子给翻译出来了，很是传神。

所以，我个人比较欣赏the Great Sage Equalling Heaven这个翻译。
