Do You Know My Work？

One night a hotel caught fire， and the people who were staying in it ran out in their night clothes．

Two men stood outside and looked at the fire．

“Before I came out，” said one，“I ran into some of the rooms and found a lot of money． People don't think of money when they're afraid． When anyone leaves paper money in a fire， the fire burns it． So I took all the bills that I could find．No one will be poorer because I took them．”

“You don't know my work，” said the other．

“What is your work？”

“I'm a policeman．

“Oh！” cried the first man． He thought quickly and said，“And do you know my work？”“No，”said the policeman．

“I'm a writer． I'm always telling stories about things that never happened．”

女娲补天：

自从女娲创造了人类，大地上到处是欢歌笑语，人们一直过着快乐幸福的生活不知过了多少年，一天夜里，女娲突然被一阵“轰隆隆”的巨大的响声震醒了。她急忙起床，跑到外面一看，天哪，太可怕了！ 远远的天空塌下一大块，露出一个黑黑的大窟窿。地也被震裂了，出现了一道道深沟。山冈上燃烧着熊熊大火，许多人被火围困在山顶上。田野里到处是洪水，许多人在水里挣扎。

看到这些，女娲难过极了。她立刻去找雨神，求他下一场雨，把天火熄灭又造了许多小船，救出挣扎在洪水中的人们

不久，天火熄灭了，洪水中的人们被救上来了。可是，天上的大窟窿还在冒火。女娲决定冒着生命危险，把天补上。于是，她跑到山上，寻找补天用的五彩石。她原以为这种石头很多，用不着费多大力气。可是，到山上一看，全是一些零零星星的小块。

她忙了几天几夜，找到了红，黄，蓝，白四种颜色的石头，还缺少一种纯青石于是，她又找啊找啊，终于在一眼清清的泉水中找到了。

五彩石找齐了。女娲先在地上挖个圆坑，把五彩石放在里面，用神火进行冶炼。炼了五天五夜，五彩石化成了很稠的液体。女娲把它装在一个大盆里，端到天边，对准那个大黑窟窿，往上一泼，只见金光四射，大窟窿立刻补好了。

　　一天，后羿到昆仑山访友求道，巧遇由此经过的王母娘娘，后羿因与嫦娥恩爱，想与她永远在一起，便向王母求一包不死药。但因此要凡间控制得严，王母被后羿的贡献和精神打动，就给了他医保，但是神药只够一个人吃据说，服下此药，能即刻升天成仙。然而药只够一个人吃，后羿舍不得撇下妻子，只好暂时把不死药交给嫦娥珍藏。嫦娥将药藏进梳妆台的百宝匣里，不料被蓬蒙看到了。

　　待后羿率众人走后不久，蓬蒙手持宝剑闯入内宅后院，威逼嫦娥交出不死药。

　　Chang’e had no better idea than swallowed the elixir herself

　　嫦娥知道自己不是蓬蒙的对手，只得拿出不死药一口吞了下去。
