　English Proficiency RequirementsLESS All Mason students must have a full command of academic English to be successful in their studies For this reason, Mason requires applicants to demonstrate English proficiency for admission consideration

随后十五年华盛顿就管理自己的家产，1774年的时候华盛顿被选为当地的代表去参加第一届大陆会议，当时的他已经是当地的最大的一个富翁了。在第二年的大陆会议上他被推举统率大陆的部队，因为他有很高的军事经验，而且家中巨资。随后华盛顿又担任大陆军团的指挥官，离开家乡，并带兵进军波士顿，将英国军队赶出了波士顿，随后又将军队开进纽约，但是打了几场败仗，当时的美国形式非常危急，1776年年底，华盛顿重整旗鼓，在特伦顿战役中，带领三千美军偷渡成功，最终赢取北美独立战争的胜利。在1783年的时候《巴黎和约》的签订，让英国承认美国的独立。同年华盛顿交出兵权辞职，1787年他主持制宪会议，两年后被无异议推举为总统，并连任直至1797年，随后辞职，两年后即1799年12月14日去世，美国的历史资料上，都有乔治华盛顿简介，可见其对美国的卓越贡献。

华盛顿砍树的故事说的是美国的第一位总统乔治华盛顿，这个故事在美国是广为流传的故事，几乎每个美国公民在小的时候都听过这个故事，华盛顿砍树不仅是一个教育小孩子的很好素材，也是美国人对华盛顿的爱戴和纪念。在华盛顿很小的时候就非常崇拜英雄人物，被英雄人物的气概和能力所折服，当华盛顿看到自己的哥哥穿上军装到前线参加战役的时候，心中对哥哥十分崇拜，也很羡慕哥哥可以保家卫国，像一个大英雄。有一天华盛顿吃完晚饭，突然跑去和他的父亲说，自己长大了也要像哥哥一样去参军，当一个勇敢的军人，保护自己的国家。他的父亲听完后，夸奖了华盛顿了，随后又问华盛顿，知不知道怎样才能成为一名真正的英雄，华盛顿当时还是个孩子，他觉得诚实的孩子才能成为一个勇敢的军人，父亲肯定了华盛顿的说法，并告诉华盛顿，不仅要诚实，还要团结，只有团结才能战胜强劲的敌人，才能成为勇敢的军人。

华盛顿的父亲在华盛顿出生的时候中下了一颗樱桃树来纪念华盛顿的出生，华盛顿一天天的长大，樱桃树也在长大，有一次华盛顿想做一把木质的手枪，像军人那样，华盛顿便自己动手，看到院中的樱桃树便拿着锯子把他锯了，用樱桃树的枝干做手枪，后来华盛顿的父亲看到樱桃树被人砍断了，便大发脾气问是谁干的，华盛顿勇敢地站出来说是自己干的，父亲还是很生气，华盛顿就告诉父亲，不是父亲告诉自己做个勇敢的军人要诚实的吗父亲看到华盛顿的优良品质便不再责怪华盛顿了，说诚实的华盛顿比樱桃树更加珍贵。

放血疗法是一种十分缺乏临床研究的疾病治疗方法，世界各地在很早以前就有放血疗法的存在。但是随着医疗技术的进步和发展，放血疗法逐渐退出历史的舞台但是也并不是说就销声匿迹了，在一些医学领域依然在沿用。中国的放血疗法最早见于《黄帝内经》的记载，即刺破经络放出血液，可以治疗癫狂、头痛、热喘等疾病。在《新唐书》中记载，唐代御医曾经用头顶放血的方法治愈了唐高宗头晕视力下降的症状。在西方也实行过放血疗法，其治疗基础是来自希腊的医圣希波克拉底和伽林。

乔治华盛顿放血疗法之所以会联系在一起，有两个方面的原因。第一是乔治华盛顿在领导北美战争的时候，曾经用放血疗法给当时的很多黑奴治过病，而且效果都非常好，所以乔治华盛顿放血疗法在当时很出名。并且他认为放血疗法是可以包治百病的。第二个原因就是，乔治华盛顿自己也用过这种方法治疗疾病，就是在乔治华盛顿晚年病重的时候，书上记载1799年12月12日的时候，乔治华盛顿在一个大雪纷飞的天气里在自己的农场呆了五个小时，第二天便已经出现感冒的症状，后来乔治华盛顿的嗓子开始哑，但是乔治华盛顿并没有很在意，以为只是很普通的感冒，因为当时的医生也认为这是小毛病，但是周六的时候乔治华盛顿开始发高烧，这才引起家人的注意，医生来之前，乔治华盛顿就让管家给他进行放血治疗，在医生克雷克到来后还进行了三次放血治疗，但是乔治华盛顿的病情不但没有好转反而加重了，呼吸更加困难，终于在12月14的时候，乔治华盛顿没有挺过去，离开了人世。
