沈从文先生曾经提出过一条著名的小说创作理论——贴着人物来写，对于被阶级性分析包围的《雷雨》来说，有必要套用一下这条理论，贴着人物去分析一下《雷雨》（节选）中的对话。只有真正走进戏剧语言的潜在世界，才能真正走进戏剧人物的内心世界，从而还人物情感以复杂性，还作品以本来面目。

一、角色矛盾

周朴园在认出鲁侍萍时说出的几句话：“你来干什么？”“谁指使你来的？”“三十年的工夫你还是找到这儿来了。”

这些话通常被人们理解为是周朴园伪善的表现，而要想准确地读出这些话的内涵，真正辨明这些话所携带的信息，我们应该直面文学作品中人物情感的复杂性。对鲁侍萍而言，周朴园有资本家的一面，也有作为旧情人的一面。在这段对话中，周朴园是在扮演着两个角色：一个是私人隐私角色，是鲁侍萍的旧情人，对鲁侍萍是有爱恋的；另一个是社会公开角色，是董事长、社会知名人士，而鲁侍萍是下人，鲁侍萍还是鲁大海（其时，周朴园还不知道鲁大海是自己的儿子）这一敌对方的母亲，对鲁侍萍是警惕的和敌对的。在这两个角色的冲突中，周朴园经过抉择最终选择的是公开角色。两权相害取其轻，周朴园没有为一个旧情人而放弃既有的社会地位和既得利益，这表明了周朴园的自私，但这并不能表明他以前的爱是虚伪的。从角色分析来看，周朴园在这里的角色是双重的（私人的和公开的），他选择了社会公开角色，并不能否认他私人角色的存在。也即是说，在这里周朴园的角色是一个对立而又统一的混合体，两种角色是斗争的但也是共存的。

运用角色矛盾这一分析方法，也很容易分析周朴园与鲁大海的一段对话。在这一段对话中，周朴园也有两个角色，一个是私人的角色，是鲁大海的父亲；另一个是公开的角色，是董事长，与鲁大海是对立的。在这两个对立的角色中，周朴园选择的却是私人的角色，对鲁大海完全是一种父亲般的教导的口吻：“你这么只凭意气是不能交涉事情的。”“你的见地也不是没有道理。”“对了，傻小子，没有经验只会胡喊是不成的。”如果把这些话也当作是周朴园伪善的表演是讲不通的。在这里周朴园对鲁大海是很客气的，不像对一个敌人。只有当鲁大海揭他的老底时，他才厉声喝斥，而当周萍及仆人打鲁大海时他又急忙厉声制止。两次“厉声”，前一次也不能说成虚伪，他不是没有父爱，而是恼羞成怒，后一次则再次体现了他作为父亲的关爱。当然，周朴园作这样的选择有一个前提，即是私人角色对他的社会知名人士、董事长这一公开角色没有什么影响。如果仍然没有签定合同，罢工仍在僵持，那么周朴园依然会选择董事长这一角色。但即使是这种情况的选择仍然不能说周朴园没有父爱，不妨举一个与之相左的例子：法官在情与法的冲突中，最终把亲人绳之以法，我们绝不能就此说这位法官无情无爱。

与之相映成趣的是鲁侍萍对周萍时的经典：“你是萍，……凭——凭什么打我的儿子？”“我是你的——你打的这个人的妈。”在这里鲁侍萍也有两个矛盾的角色：一个是现场的角色，是周家仆人的母亲；另一个是隐秘的角色，是周萍的母亲。但鲁侍萍克制了自己的冲动，最终选择的却是下人——这一公开的角色，而没有表明自己的身份。但这却没有任何分析说鲁侍萍虚伪，几乎都是设身处地的分析出了鲁侍萍内心的矛盾及痛苦。那么为什么对周朴园就那么苛刻？就不能体察到他的情感上的矛盾和痛苦？要知道，所谓的坏人也是人啊！

二、心口不一

戏剧语言除了具有角色矛盾的特征外，还有另一个特征，即是心口不一。在现实生活中一般人在通常状态下是心口如一的，但也有心口误差甚至于心口矛盾的人，而且这种人还是有一定历史的：“口蜜腹剑”者，“刀子嘴豆腐心”样的人。而几乎每一个成年人都会有心口不一的经历，尤其是在有意欺骗对方或是在试探对方时，通常会心口不一。其实这是一种理性的回避或考辨。《雷雨》中鲁侍萍就说过这样一句心口不一的话： “可是她不是**，她也不贤慧，并且听说是不大规矩的。”

如果把这句话坐到实处，以为真是鲁侍萍的自我悔恨、自我谴责，那就是只读出了表层意思而忽略了人物内心的真正意蕴。其实这时的鲁侍萍还处于理性状态（周朴园还没有认出鲁侍萍），这里是鲁侍萍故意站在常人的角度说的一句反话，带着一种揶揄的味道，是在刺激周朴园，实质上是想试探下周朴园对她的真实评价。这表明她对周朴园还是在乎的，是有感情的，只不过历经几十年底层社会的磨炼，藏的比较深而已。这样理解就能与后文连起来了。当周朴园没有认出鲁侍萍时，周朴园是非常想知道鲁侍萍的情况而又很害怕知道的，而鲁侍萍则是热切地希望被知道真相的。为此后文当周朴园没有认出鲁侍萍而是让她先下去时，鲁侍萍是很失望的——鲁侍萍望着周朴园泪要涌出：“老爷，没事了？”而当周朴园认出鲁侍萍时，鲁侍萍的第一句话不是怨愤，也不是怒骂而是：“你自然想不到，侍萍的相貌有一天也会老得连你也不认识。”这里的作为旧情人的失望、失落、哀伤就已经是很明显的了。所以读戏剧语言不仅要读出表层意思，还要读出语言中潜在的丰富内涵。

如果说上面鲁侍萍是理性状态下的试探性质的心口不一的话，那么两个人相认以后，正当鲁侍萍沉浸于回忆中不能自拔时，周朴园却说了一些不合时宜的话，破坏了鲁侍萍的忆旧情绪：“你来干什么？”“谁指使你来的？”“三十年的工夫你还是找到这儿来了。”鲁侍萍顿时情感失控，说了一些失去理智的、无意识的心口不一的话：“我没有委屈，我有的是恨，是悔，是三十年一天一天我自己受的苦。”“我要提，我要提，我闷了三十年了！”鲁侍萍的这些话是否真是对他们过去美好情感的否定？这个“闷”字是否是鲁侍萍三十年凝聚的悔恨的表现？显然都不是。如上文分析，当周朴园认出鲁侍萍时，鲁侍萍的第一句话并不是这样一种情绪，因此这些话是鲁侍萍的美好回忆被周朴园粗暴打断后激发的怨愤情绪，是爱与恨两种感情处于一种胶着状态下的、失去理性后的气话。而这个“闷”字恰恰是鲁侍萍怀念他们美好恋情的另一种体现：是怀念美好恋情而不得的一种痛苦的无意识流露。情感失控、非理智状态下的气话我们是不能把它落到实处的，而要读出语言背后的真实内容：唯有爱之深，才有气之盛。后文中稍微平定了情绪后的鲁侍萍说：“现在我们都是上了年纪的人，这些话请你也不必说了。”从中不难看见她的理解是要多于怨恨的。而当周朴园给鲁侍萍支票时，鲁侍萍却把支票撕掉了：“我这些年的苦不是你拿钱算的清的。”这句话把鲁侍萍内心的情感和盘托出：鲁侍萍是很看重他们以前的情感的，在内心深处她是把它作为一种纯洁的感情的，她不愿意那一段刻骨铭心的感情受了钱的亵渎。总体上看，在周朴园认出鲁侍萍之前，鲁侍萍是理智的，那时的心口不一的话是一种试探；而在周朴园认出鲁侍萍之后，鲁侍萍的情感是失控的，这时的心口不一的话则是一种气话。因此，分析人物语言，不仅要知其然，还要知其所以然。
