　4年前，英国跳绳协会（brsa）开始推广跳绳运动，他们曾经借助英国著名电视节目《兰彼得》（bluepeter）介绍了将近200多种跳绳花样。很多观众看后无不为跳绳运动复杂新奇的脚底花活和年轻朝气所惊叹。

　为把这项古老的运动重新推广起来，英国跳绳协会下了很大功夫。今年英国创造了7632名儿童一起在85个地点同时跳绳3分钟的新的世界纪录。老师们给予了很大的支持，他们普遍认为，跳绳对孩子的身体健康极为有益。brsa的苏·戴尔说：“由于电脑游戏等的流行，跳绳很长时间以来已经不再流行。但是现在我们又重新鼓励孩子们开始跳绳运动了。孩子们都惊讶于一根简单的绳子能创造的花样居然如此之多。”她的女儿，18岁的贝斯和17岁的瑞查，在7岁时就开始跳绳锻炼，现在已经在代表英国参加比赛了。她们每周要锻炼四五次，每次3个小时。她们认为，这种锻炼一点儿都不枯燥。

　bras建议，每周跳绳3—4次，每次10分钟左右，以2分钟为一个单元，是非常有效且合适的运动量。据研究，持续跳绳10分钟，与慢跑30分钟或跳健身舞20分钟消耗的能量差不多。要穿舒适的软底运动鞋缓解冲击力，防止受到震荡损伤关节。最初可以用轻的绳子开始锻炼，每个单元为30秒钟，逐渐加量，熟练后可以采取更多的花样。
