1971

Motown于年底为Michael发行个人首支单曲 「Got to be there」，成绩为第四名。

1972

「Ben」专辑发行，「Ben」单曲成为他第一支冠军单曲。

1975

随着Jackson Five投至「Epic」唱片公司，改名为「The Jacksons」，然而未能延续佳绩。

1978

Michael参加「The WIZ」（新绿野仙踪）演出，演唱了插曲「Ease on down the road」，「You　can’t win」，并演出了稻草人一角，与Diana Ross、Richard Pryor并列为三大主角，且由于担负此片的主题曲演唱重资大任，而与专辑制作人Quincy Jones 结识。

1979

1979年后是Michael Jackson的年代，专辑「Off The Wall」在Epic旗下发行，首支冠军单曲「Don't stop 'til you get enough」，并为他得到葛莱美奖的「最佳蓝调男歌手奖」（Best R&B Vocal Performance，Male）；此专辑全球销售七百万张，在Billboard榜上待到1984年才下榜。

1980

The Jacksons发行「Triumph」专辑，于1981年间展开全美演唱，所的收入美金五百五十万，被列为该年度高所得艺人之一。

1982
