我说得难听一点：老友记六个人，三个高中同校的“正常人”，一个爱说笑话的正常人Chandler，剩下两个，Joey是傻子，Phoebe是疯子。所以，当编剧没有什么复杂的哏好编的时候，就要放Phoebe出来发一下疯了。
回想第二季的Phoebe跟Ross对峙，说进化论不是唯一的可能，她是非常雄辩的回想第二季的Phoebe跟Ross对峙，说进化论不是唯一的可能，她是非常雄辩的。虽然开头好像在发疯“谁把化石埋在那儿的为什么”，“是不是超神需要拇指来开飞船呢”。但最后两人认真谈论的时候，她是有条有理的：科学家错过没有，有没有可能现在也有一点点滴滴咪咪的可能进化论这件事科学家也错了。
外加把Ross气走了以后云淡风轻来一句“真好玩我饿了”。那种洒脱简直魅力四射！结果到第五季，生Ross的气就变成做了一个梦无理取闹，确实让人喜欢不起来啊。我可以理解你的感受。
Phoebe是这部剧里，几乎唯一的神经病Phoebe是这部剧里，几乎唯一的神经病。所以她是最好用的笑点制造机。可以没有上下文，也没有后续，随随便便发一下疯，诚然让人捧腹，可也有同样的无语。难以避免。
差不多是直到Mike出现以后，她有了自己的故事线，有了前因后果，从此以后，才又变得可爱了起来。
另外一点，《老友记》这部剧，对于人生也好人性也好，其实是有一点探索的意思的。它不下定义，不给答案，而是不断试错。
在这个基础上，Phoebe也是非常好用的小白鼠在这个基础上，Phoebe也是非常好用的小白鼠。最典型的就是两个男朋友那集。不舍得让正常人脚踩两只船，那就Phoebe来吧。让Phoebe告诉你，左拥右抱到底是幸福呢还是痛苦。
这也是《老友记》的一个特点。它倾向于不做价值判断，只呈现可能。不信科学怎么样？脚踩两只船怎么样？不敢去见抛弃自己的生父怎么样？把像在图书馆唱歌这样的好工作搞砸了怎么样？和前前男友复合的时候，真爱前男友又来求婚了怎么样？
这部剧不会告诉你，这样对还是不对，好还是不好，当然你可以有自己的判断和感受，但那是你自己的，不是剧里表现出来的。
而这些千奇百怪的，很多人终其一生也未必会碰到的可能，都是需要Phoebe这样离经叛道的人来帮我们一一呈现的。所以，如果不喜欢Phoebe怎么样？太正常啦！父母对自己的孩子还有偏心呢，更何况一个情景喜剧里的人物。像Phoebe生气一样尊重自己的不喜欢吧，不要放在心上。
整部老友记里，好像菲比就没有特别认真的感情线。大卫反而是能被记住的，而且两个人认真交往，认真爱了。编剧为了最后推蚁人一下，硬把大卫写回来推动剧情。跟莫妮卡和小钱钱快求婚那会儿，硬把理查德弄出来一个意思。
菲比与大卫的爱情故事第一次见面，大卫就对菲比一见钟情，“你是我一生中见过最漂亮的女孩，你全身散发出难得的古典美。”就这样两人开始谈恋爱了，爱情很梦幻也美好。但是好景不长，大卫要面临一个艰难的选择，选择自己心爱的女朋友菲比还是为研究科学到明克斯工作？而菲比理解大卫对科学的热爱，她觉得自己不能那么自私，让大卫留下来陪伴自己，所以毅然选择送他去明克斯。
他们俩很爱彼此，但是很可惜，两人出场时间不对，最终只好无疾而终。后来他们俩有个一个短暂的相遇，却依旧依依不舍、却又无可奈何。就像是菲比这样爽朗的奇女子，面对与大卫的两次告别，她都是以泪洗面。在第二次分别时，菲比痛心地说道：“这个男人我可能这辈子再也见不到他了。”后来，菲比遇到了麦克，最终与麦克修成正果，找到了一个可以让她心安的家人。

相比起钱勒，虽然菲比有着更糟糕，更悲惨的过去，但她还是选择了开朗和乐观的面对过去。虽然菲比选择了乐观，而且她也总是努力地展示给我们她乐观积极向上的一面，但是生活的挫折也时不时地打击着她，她知道自己承受压力的极限在哪里，有时候她会显得崩溃，但她总能够很好地控制在自己。
